چکیده

Solid–liquid equilibria in mixed electrolyte aqueous solution have been investigated using available thermodynamic data for solids and for aqueous electrolyte solutions. The mean spherical approximation (MSA) modified by Lu et al. [Fluid Phase Equilib. 85 (1993) 81] is used to calculate the mean ionic activity coefficients in mixed electrolyte solutions at saturation conditions. Solid–liquid equilibria of seven mixed electrolyte systems at 298.15 K are successfully predicted using the modified MSA method with the parameters obtained from activity coefficient data of corresponding single electrolyte solutions. The total average absolute deviation between predicted and experimental values is 5.58%. Furthermore, the predicted results of solid–liquid equilibria for four mixed electrolyte solutions over a range of temperature indicate that the modified MSA method can fairly be used to predict solid–liquid equilibria for mixed electrolyte aqueous solutions at various temperatures. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. An Evaluation of Four Electrolyte Models for the Prediction of Thermodynamic Properties of Aqueous Electrolyte Solutions

In this work, the performance of four electrolyte models for prediction the osmotic and activity coefficients of different aqueous salt solutions at 298 K, atmospheric pressure and in a wide range of concentrations are evaluated. In two of these models, (electrolyte Non-Random Two-Liquid e-NRTL and Mean Spherical Approximation-Non-Random Two-Liquid MSA-NRTL), association between ions of opposit...

Modeling of liquid–liquid equilibria of aqueous alcohol + salt systems using amodified NRTL

The modified NRTL (m-NRTL) model is used to represent the excess Gibbs free energy of aqueous (alcohol + electrolyte) solutions. In this work, the m-NRTL model previously developed for representation of vapor-liquid equilibria for (polymer + salt + water) systems has been extended to represent liquid-liquid equilibria of (alcohol + salt + water) systems. The proposed extension is a modified of ...

The concentration dependence of the surface tension of single and mixed electrolyte aqueous solutions is studied, based on the assumption that the surface layer can be treated as a separate phase located between vapor and bulk liquid phases. The mean spherical approximation modified by Lu et al. [J.-F. Lu, Y.-X. Yu, Y.-G. Li, Fluid Phase Equilibria 85 (1993) 81–100] is used to calculate the act...

Modeling thermodynamic properties of electrolytes: Inclusion of the mean spherical approximation (MSA) in the simplified SAFT equation of state

In this work, an equation of state has been utilized for thermodynamic modeling of aqueous electrolyte solutions. The proposed equation of state is a combination of simplified statistical associating fluid theory (SAFT) equation of state (similar to simplified PC-SAFT) to describe the effect of short-range interactions and mean spherical approximation (MSA) term to describe the effect of long-r...

Prediction of Hydrate Formation for the Systems Containing Single and Mixed Electrolyte Solutions

In this work the effect of electrolytes on hydrate formation was investigated. To do so, a new model was used in predicting the hydrate formation conditions in presence of both single and mixed electrolyte solutions. The new model is based on the van der Waals - Platteeuw hydrate equation of state. In order to evaluate the values for the activity of water in electrolyte solutions t...
